TRAUMALITY Reaches Asia: The Malaysian Premiere in Kuala Lumpur

TRAUMALITY is going to Asia. On 1 December 2026, the film has its Malaysian premiere in Kuala Lumpur, on Day 2 of the Mental Health in Anti-Trafficking (MHAT) Global Conference 2026, hosted by Asian Freedom Network.
It is the film's first screening in Asia, and a big moment for a documentary that started as one person's question. TRAUMALITY has now been shown across the UK and Ireland, to NHS trusts, schools, councils and communities online. Taking it to Kuala Lumpur opens the conversation to a whole new audience, with its own cultures, its own pressures and its own ways of talking, or not talking, about mental health.
Why this matters
In many places, emotional pain still carries a heavy stigma. People are told they are weak, broken or disordered, and the story of what happened to them is left out. TRAUMALITY asks a different question. Instead of what is wrong with you, it asks what happened to you, and it brings together leading voices in trauma, psychology and lived experience to explain why that shift matters.
Screening at a conference dedicated to mental health in anti-trafficking makes that question feel even more urgent. People who have survived trafficking often carry some of the deepest wounds there are. How professionals, organisations and communities listen and respond can shape whether someone feels judged or understood.
Understanding what people have lived through matters. So does how we listen, respond and support them.
Thank you, Asian Freedom Network
A huge thank you to Asian Freedom Network for bringing TRAUMALITY into this conversation, and for the work they do every day. We are honoured that the film will be part of the MHAT Global Conference, alongside people working on the front line of care and protection across the region.
